Packets for 2001-2002 have been mailed to all campus personnel.
If you did not receive a packet, have questions or are in need
of additional information, please call me at extension 8438.
As announced in the packet material, Bob Peterson, Director of
Planned Giving for the University of Minnesota Foundation will be on
campus Monday, May 7. He
will be making a couple of presentations and will also be available to
meet with individuals and/or small groups with similar questions.
Prior to joining the Foundation staff, Bob had his own private
law practice, specializing in tax and estate planning.
His schedule for the day should be out and available by the
time you read this Bulletin. I’d
like to encourage everyone to attend one of his presentations. Bob is
knowledgeable, experienced and presents complicated tax planning
information in an understandable and useful manor.
Hope to see you on

CTAD
Application Reminder
Faculty, staff or
administration interested in applying for participation in the August
14 and 15 Curriculum Transformation and Disability (CTAD) training are
encouraged to obtain an application from Laurie Wilson as soon as
possible. Completed
applications may be returned to Laurie Wilson by May 11, or sent
directly to Judy Foxx on the TC Campus.
At least ten participants will be selected with preference
given to applicants with formal teaching assignments.
Last year, ten of our UMC faculty participated in the two-day
training, three-hour follow-up and emailed questionnaires that were a
part of the expectations.
During the training,
participants will listen to brief presentations, discuss content,
apply principles of Universal Instructional Design to their courses,
hear from students, contribute ideas and success stories, receive some
instruction in adaptive technologies, review case studies and have the
opportunity to reflect on the variety of ways that teaching and
learning can happen. We
also eat often and laugh once in awhile.
After the training,
participants are asked to integrate some of the principles and
practices of Universal Instructional Design into their respective
courses and select ways to help disseminate the information to other
faculty. Participants
will be paid a stipend in the amount of approximately $934.
If this sounds like a
project with appeal to you, please request and complete an
application. Applicants
who applied but were not selected last year due to funding limitations
are encouraged to reapply this year. We are hopeful that UMC will be able to participate for at
least three years in the project.
