Call for Continuing Education Topics
UMC’s Center for Continuing Education is scheduling workshops, seminars and other products to provide the adult learner in northwestern Minnesota with opportunities for professional development, personal enrichment, career transition, and academic growth. If you would like to teach, request a topic, or refer an instructor, please contact Hilary Bertsch (at hbertsch@mail.crk.umn.edu) or myself (at jsims@mail.crk.umn.edu) by email.

Teaching adult learners is rewarding. You not only get the chance to help others achieve their career goals and personal potential, you also get a unique opportunity for your own personal and professional growth.

Thanks for your support!

Upcoming Multicultural Programs
The Office of Multicultural and International Programs is sponsoring two upcoming educational events. The first program, "The Latino Family,” is scheduled on Thursday, September 28, in Sahlstrom Conference Center A&B from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The second one, "Biculturalism & Acculturation Among Latinos,” will be presented on Thursday, October 5, in Sahlstrom Conference Center A&B from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A brief description of the two video presentations:

"The Latino Family": (28 minutes) Shows both the changes and endurance of traditional Latino families. Examines how the traditional roles of the Latino elderly are being altered by their families' needs, and also how the traditional family pleasures can still be celebrated.

"Biculturalism & Acculturation Among Latinos": (28 minutes) The program examines the question of which part of their culture Latinos feel they should keep and leave behind. It also addresses some commonly held beliefs and misperceptions about who Latinos are today in the United States.

Everyone is invited!  Please share this information with students/colleagues.  I will be glad to answer any questions related to these programs.

Sunny Server Issues
We are running out of space on the Sunny Server. Would all of you be willing to verify that you have only pertinent courses files/syllabi on the server?  We will gladly store your other files on other directories (servers) if you request it.  Please take off any files that you know are not necessary to your class/classes.

We appreciate your help with this situation until Dan comes back and he can work with you to verify course files so we can clean up the Sunny Server.  We need the server to have optimal performance to be able to serve you and your students at all times.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
