With
heightened awareness of both students and parents regarding the threat
of meningococcal meningitis, UMC has decided to take steps toward
protecting our students by conducting a meningitis vaccination
program. On October 18th,
2000, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Sahlstrom Conference Center 131, UMC
students will be able to receive a vaccine that can provide protection
against four of the five most common strains of meningococcal disease,
which together account for more than 62% of meningococcal cases on
college campuses. The fee
is $85.00 for the vaccine and can be payable by major credit card,
personal check, or cash. This
program is being sponsored by UMC Student Health, which is working
with Preventive Health Partnerships (PHP), a company that specializes
in direct-access immunization programs.

Airfare
Price Reduction
The major airlines have
announced another airfare sale good for travel until February 15,
2001, with blackout dates around the holidays.
A Saturday stay is normally required, and usually
Tuesday-Thursday are cheaper days to travel (although not always).
At this time it doesn't give a ticketing deadline, but a local travel
agent thinks October 13 may be the deadline to purchase tickets.
Contact your local travel agent for more information.
