Bernie McGrenahanMcGrenahan Brings Comedy with Message to UMC October 8
Bernie McGrenahan will bring his “Happy Hour, Comedy with a Twist” to UMC Wednesday, October 8, at 8 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium.  The performance is open to the public.  Admission is free to UMC students and only $2 per person for others.

McGrenahan’s “Happy Hour, Comedy with a Twist” is thirty minutes of stand up comedy followed by thirty minutes of impact-filled message on alcohol abuse.  The powerful message that follows his stand-up comedy includes the story of the alcohol and drug related suicide of his nineteen-year-old brother and Bernie's six-month incarceration from three DUI convictions.  For more information, visit the website <www.happyhourcomedy.com>.

Wellstone Book Publication Celebration October 14 in Twin Cities
The University of Minnesota Press and the Weisman Art Museum are pleased to host a publication celebration for Twelve Years and Thirteen Days:  Remembering Paul and Sheila Wellstone with Photographer Terry Gydesen, Jeff Blodgett, and special guest Al Franken on Tuesday, October 14, 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Weisman Art Museum on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

For more info, contact: Alison Aten, Publicist 612-627-1932 or atenx001@tc.umn.edu
or visit Terry Gydesen's website at <www.terrygydesen.com> or <www.upress.umn.edu/Books/G/gydesen_twelve.html>.

In a collection of more than seventy photographs, documentary photographer Terry Gydesen captures the energy and passion that Wellstone brought to his work in a new book from the University of Minnesota Press entitled, Twelve Years and Thirteen Days: Remembering Paul and Sheila Wellstone. The book will be released on October 14.

Essays by Walter F. Mondale and Jeff Blodgett, Wellstone's former student and long-time campaign manager, complement the photographs with personal reminiscences of the Wellstones as political colleagues and friends.

Twelve Years and Thirteen Days joins several other recent titles documenting Minnesota politics published by the University of Minnesota Press, including KSTP reporter Tom Hauser's political biography of Jesse Ventura, Inside the Ropes with Jesse Ventura; Minnesota Public Radio correspondent Mary Losure's account of the Highway 55 controversy, Our Way or the Highway; and Minneapolis Star-Tribune editorial writer Dave Hage's forthcoming account of welfare reform in the state.
