Center. Members of the UMC Band will play their “Armed Forces Salute”
followed by a patriotic medley performed by the UMC Choir. Mark Huglen,

Eric Addington will perform at UMC Wednesday, November 12, at 8 p.m. in
the Eagles Nest Lounge, Sahlstrom Conference Center. The performance is
open to the public. Admission is free.
Based in Moorhead,
Minnesota, Addington has been performing in some capacity since
1995—whether as half of Flatlands, an acoustic duo with Bill Lempe, or
with fellow singer-songwriter Josh Harty opening for some of the biggest
names in the world of blues, or as a solo artist with only his voice and
acoustic guitar. Addington combines folk and finger style with subtle
blues influences into his melodic guitar playing, and he writes songs
that evoke emotional yet intelligent responses in his audiences.

artist’s website: <www.ericaddington.com>.
Addington’s performance is sponsored by the UMC Student Center.

Talent
Show November 24
Dear faculty and staff, we need your help to promote
diversity on the UMC campus. BLAST (Black Association of Students) will
present a talent show on Monday, November 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Kiehle
Auditorium.
For the open
presentation BLAST and Diversity Services would like to have a music or
dance presentation from different nations, such as Germany, Ireland,
Norway, Mexico, Italy, etc. Each performer will have between 2 to 3
minutes to sing, dance, or recite/read poetry. Note: Mario Prada and I
will be representing and singing Brazilian music!
If you sing, dance, or
enjoy poetry and want to contribute in promoting the culture and
tradition of a country, please e-mail me. I’ll be setting up a meeting
for next week. Thank you for your cooperation and participation.

Club and Other
Events on the UMC Today Page
A reminder to club advisors and
other campus event planners: any campus meeting or event sponsored or
co-sponsored by the University or by any officially recognized student
organization can be publicized on the “UMC Today Page” <www.UMCrookston.edu/welcome.htm>.
If it is a club or organization meeting, details about the meeting
(time, place, etc.) should be sent to me at least two days before the
meeting so it can be added it to the calendar. If it is a larger event,
such as a campus speaker or performer, and it is open to the general
campus community and/or the public, please notify me at least two weeks
prior to the event so I can assist in the publicity. An online form is
also available at <www.UMCrookston.edu/campusinfo/calendars/addevent.htm>.
I will post meeting
notices on the UMC Today page the day they are scheduled. I will also
post any late received or same day meeting notices as soon as I receive
them. Larger events or performances may be listed for an entire week
prior to the event. Normally, the UMC Today page is updated at about 8
a.m. daily (except weekends). I am also working on an official campus
policy that outlines the informal policy noted above.

Proper
Handling of Student Health and/or Disability Records
Please be informed that
University policy requires that student health and/or disability
documentation be stored ONLY in specific locations on campus. Student
health records or information must be forwarded to Stacey Grunewald in
Student Health, and student disability documentation such as IEP’s,
educational evaluations, or physicians’ verifications of disability
status must be stored in the Office for Students with Disabilities. It
can happen that such records are initially delivered to faculty,
coaches, or admissions staff during student recruitment or advisement
and then are accidentally retained in those offices. If you find
student health or disability documentation among your advising, athletic
recruitment or other records, please seal it in an envelope, label the
envelope for the appropriate campus office and contact Student Health or
the Office for Students with Disabilities to pick it up. Thank you for
your ongoing attention to this matter.
--Laurie Wilson, UMC Counseling and Disability Services
