Equestrian Home

A familiar face to the University of Minnesota, Crookston Equestrian program, Nicky Overgaard enters her first season as an assistant coach after serving as head coach from 1997-2000. Her primary duties will include working with the Western team.

Nicky is a previous IHSA Rider and founding member of the Golden Eagle Equestrian team. She led the Golden Eagles to Hunt and Western IHSA Regional Championships during the 1997-1998 season. That same season, Nicky coached Emily Whetmore and Anita Stark to the IHSA nationals. She has also coached multiple riders to IHSA Zone Championships.

A native of Red Lake Falls, Minn., Nicky graduated fro U of M, Crookston in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Equine Industries Management. She also received a Master’s Degree in Management from the University of Mary in 2005.

For the past ten years, Nicky has served as an instructor in the University of Minnesota, Crookston Equine program. She and her husband Jamie reside in East Grand Forks, Minn. with their three children Austin (7), Justin (4) and Braden (7 months).
