UMC Campus Policy on Web Pages for Students
Philosophy
The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) recognizes the educational impact and opportunities afforded by the creation and use of "home pages" or "web pages" for the World Wide Web (WWW).
As part of UMC's commitment to being technology-driven, UMC encourages all interested students to create personal web pages. These web pages will be hosted on a designated web server at UMC as a service to students.
Eligibility/Conditions
Students maintaining web pages on any of UMC's designated student web page servers:

Additional Guidelines and Procedures
- UMC maintains no responsibility and no liability for files in a student's web account. Students are responsible for making backup copies of all files in their web accounts.
- Under U of M policy, personal Web page authors are not permitted to use the University of Minnesota wordmark or other text or design elements in such a way as would imply that their personal pages are an institutional resource of the University.
- University of Minnesota resources may not be used to create web pages primarily for personal business or personal gain, except as permitted by other University policies.
- Pages will be removed from the UMC host server when the individual is no longer a registered, technology fee paying student of UMC, unless other arrangements are made
- Pages that interfere with the management and operation of UMC's educational mission may be removed at the discretion of the webmaster and director of computing services.
- Advertising, libelous materials, and any communications which violate applicable laws and regulations are prohibited and will be removed.
- Because of questions surrounding the legality of some MP3 or music files, students are discouraged from storing MP3 files in their web accounts. Students are warned that if MP3 files are discovered in their web accounts, those files may be removed and/or proper authorities may be notified.
- Individuals may not automatically direct electronic mail to anyone without that person's permission.
