Christine Kane

Singer Christine Kane to Perform at UMC April 25

Singer-songwriter Christine Kane will perform in UMC's  Bede Ballroom on Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.  The performance is free and open to the public.

Kane has played in settings from coffeehouses to college campuses to major festivals and has shared the stage with performers such as Nancy Griffith, Shawn Colvin, Roseanne Cash, and Livingston Taylor.  Most recently she opened for the band Los Lobos in Los Angeles, California.  She has headlined at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival, Asheville's Bele Chere Festival, and the Madison Folk Festival.  And she's been a showcase performer at the legendary Philadelphia Folk Festival.  Kane last performed at UMC in October 1998 and was extremely well-received.

The growing popularity of Kane's live shows prompted the recent release of her third album, “Live.“  Recorded at a well-known club in the Southeast, “Live” is a mix of old and new songs.  The album includes the highly requested song "Southern Girl," which has been covered by a number of artists and has received a movie soundtrack offer.  She began work on a new studio album this winter.

Christine Kane’s performance is sponsored by UMC Student Programming and Activities for Campus Entertainment (SPACE).  Disability accommodations are available upon request by contacting 218-281-8506.
