UMC Students to Present at State FFA Convention

Students involved in the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Collegiate FFA Chapter will attend and present a workshop at the annual Minnesota State FFA Convention, set for April 29-May 1, 2001, on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota.

Three students, Jaime Brause, Daniela Duckwitz, and Mandy Kidrowski, will present a workshop entitled “Shipwrecked,” dealing with setting goals and priorities and viewing challenges from different perspectives.  Brause is a freshman from Fergus Falls.  She is majoring in animal industries management at UMC.  Duckwitz is a sophomore agricultural education major from Battle Lake.  Kidrowski, an agricultural business major, is a senior from Willmar and is currently the president of the UMC FFA chapter.

Also representing UMC at the convention will be Lisa Voth, a freshman agricultural business major from Red Wing, and Tony Lorentz, a freshman from Howard Lake who is majoring in agricultural systems management at UMC.  Lorentz is the president-elect of the UMC Collegiate FFA chapter.

“Our UMC chapter is the only official collegiate FFA chapter in the state,” says Kidrowski, “and we want to promote the fact that there are options for continuing involvement in FFA at the collegiate level.  A big part of what we do at UMC involves working with many of the smaller FFA chapters throughout the state.  We all benefit from that interaction, and I think we make FFA even stronger because of that.”  Prior to attending UMC, Kidrowski served as the Minnesota State FFA Reporter in 1999-2000 and as reporter and historian for her hometown FFA chapter in Willmar.
