Guitarist Terry Shropshire to Perform at UMC April 24

Guitarist and songwriter Terry Shropshire will perform at UMC Tuesday, April 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the Eagles Roost Lounge in Sahlstrom Conference Center.  Shropshire is a self-taught guitarist whose repertoire consists of original music, blues, jazz, country, and pop styling.

At 2 p.m. that afternoon Shropshire will present a workshop on early American blues music in Bede Ballroom.  The workshop will include demonstration of East Coast Piedmont, South Texas, and Mississippi Delta styles of guitar playing and a discussion of the history and lifestyles of early blues musicians.  Shropshire demonstrates and discusses his style and techniques in playing slide guitar, finger picking, string dampening, and open tunings, adding harmonica and distinctive vocals.

Both events are free and open to the public.  The performance and workshop are sponsored by UMC's Concerts and Lectures Committee.
