UMC Awards Presented April 18

The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) presented students with achievement and service awards at the annual Student Awards Reception held Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Bede Ballroom on the UMC campus.  The ceremony is held each year to honor those who have made outstanding leadership and service contributions or who have achieved high academic standing at the University’s Crookston campus.

Among the recognitions and honors, student organization presidents and members of the Crookston Student Association were recognized for their work during the year.

Twelve students received Student Service Awards, which UMC presents to recognize those students who have excelled not only academically, but also through leadership and service to the University and local community.  Those students are (back row, l. to r.): Matt McBlair of Coleville, WA; Tim Adams of Eleva, WI; Sonic Petithomme of Miami, FL; Paul Detloff of Bertha, MN; Shane Roers of Fargo, ND; (middle row, l. to r.): Rebekah Stortroen of Climax, MN; Lisa Detloff of Bertha, MN; Barb Heinze of Elrosa, MN; Deeptha Reddy of Chennai, India; Becky Seifert of Wahpeton, ND; (front row): Steve Brandt of Kimball, MN; and Luciana Forati of Santa Fe, Argentina.

Students also honored selected faculty and staff members with special awards.  These awards are significant in that the entire UMC student body votes to select the award recipients.  Awards were presented in four categories:
