Musician/Comedian Craig Carmean to Perform at UMC November 16

Craig CarmeanMusician and comedian Craig Carmean will perform at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) on Thursday, November 16, 2000.  The performance will begin at 8:00 p.m. in Bede Ballroom and is free for UMC students, faculty, and staff.  The event is open to the public with a $2 admission charge.

Carmean has performed on cruise lines, nightclubs, and college campuses across the country, combining music, comedy, satire, and parody into something he calls “new rock comedy.”

His show has been described as “an arsenal of material ranging from television for pop culture fans, dorm room life for students, and Gangsta Rap sung by Garth Brooks for the hip-hop set.”  Carmean has asked such burning questions as what if the Brady Bunch were rednecks?  He has created a musical tribute to Lucky Charms Cereal.  And he has transformed Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" into a parody on nicknames for silly things.

Carmean was nominated for "Comedian of the Year 1999" and "Entertainer of the Year 2000" by the Campus Activities Magazine's Readers Poll and the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.   Recently he was selected "Comedian of the Year 2000" by Campus Activities Magazine.  He currently resides in Miami, Florida.

The performance is sponsored by the Student Programming and Activities for Campus Entertainment (SPACE) committee.  Disability accommodations can be made by calling 218-281-8506.

Carmean is managed by the Paradigm Entertainment Group, 800-992-8676.  Visit his website: http://www.craigcarmean.com/
