Singer John Smith to Perform at UMC January 31

Singer/songwriter John Smith will perform at UMC on Wednesday, January 31.  The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the first floor lounge in Bede Student Center.  The event is free and open to the public.

Smith has performed at clubs and coffeehouses around the country, both as a solo performer and as half of the acclaimed folk duo Runaway.   He is a winner of the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award, has performed at the Kerrville and Napa Valley Folk Festivals, and has been a perennial finalist at Telluride's Troubadour Competition.

Smith has released two solo CDs.  And while his most recent, “To the Four Directions,” reveals influences of great singer/songwriters such as Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Jackson Browne, Smith has synthesized his own unique sound.

The performance is sponsored by UMC’s Bede Student Center.  Disability accommodations can be made by calling 218-281-8506.
