The musical group Fade 2 Shade will perform for a University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) dance on Friday, November 30, 2001.  The group will perform at the Crookston Armory from at 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.  Admission to the event is free for UMC students and $4 for  others.

Fade 2 Shade

The group’s blend of rock, jazz, and rhythm has been described as a combination of 90s edge Dave Matthews with melodic overtones reminiscent of the Eagles and Firefall.  Just recently in November Fade 2 Shade was nominated in the “Best Live Musical Act” category for the 2002 Campus Activities Magazine National Awards.  Other nominees in the live music categories include: Guster, John Rush, Train, Counting Crows, Howie Day, Del Suggs, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Mike Rayburn.

The members of Fade 2 Shade first came together in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in the fall of 1997.  During the next couple years, the group wrote original music and performed over 200 shows a year across the entire Midwest, opening for national acts such as Johnny Lang, Shannon Curfman, and Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise.

In May 2000, Fade 2 Shade signed a recording contract with Minneapolis-based Angel Beach Records.  The band then entered the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer Jellybean Johnson to record their debut LP, Time Will Tell, which was released that fall.

A national tour followed in 2001.  The tour lasted over four months and took Fade 2 Shade through 25 states as far south as Texas, west as Colorado, north as North Dakota, and east at West Virginia and Pennsylvania.  During the tour, Fade 2 Shade performed selected shows with national acts such as Sister Hazel and Sixpence None the Richer.
