DaisyChain to Play UMC January 30

The acoustic musical group DaisyChain will perform at UMC Wednesday, January 30, 2002.  The group will perform in UMC’s Bede Ballroom beginning at 8 p.m.  The performance is open to the public.  Admission is free for UMC students and $2 for others.

The duo known as DaisyChain performs its own unique brand of original adult alternative and country crossover music.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Johnny Hose first met Dave Schellenberg, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1993 by answering an ad in a music store.  By 1997 the two had released their first demo CD as Daisy Chain and had performed steadily, honing their stage show and building their fan base.

In 1999 DaisyChain was performing at national music showcases and festivals, opening for such artists as Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, the Freddy Jones Band, Sonia Dada, and April Wine.

DaisyChain released an independent CD entitled "Bring the Rain" in October 2000 to overwhelming critical acclaim. Other recent highlights include winning a songwriting award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International for the song "Lover Come Home"; receiving a grant from Jim Beam's B.E.A.M. program to further their career; and performing at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.  Currently, DaisyChain is on a tour of colleges and universities in the upper Midwest.
