Dazy Head Mazy to Play UMC Homecoming DanceThe annual Homecoming Dance will cap off a week-long series of events on the campus of the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The dance will be held Saturday, September 29, in Bede Ballroom from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Admission is free for UMC students and $5.00 for alumni and others. Dazy Head Mazy, a rootsy pop-rock band from Minneapolis, will play for the dance. The band has released two EPs and two full-length albums, "They're All Wearing Pearls" And "Shift." The band is an upbeat group comprised of Will Bauermeister on twelve string acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Andrew Clark on drums and background vocals, Justin Mishler on bass guitar, Ben Wilinski on mandolin, guitar, and vocals, and Corey Rae White on lead guitar. Dazy Head Mazy's first full length CD, entitled "They're All Wearing Pearls," charted at number seven on the CMJ Sales Tracking Report in 1999. The band has also been nominated for several awards by the Minnesota Music Association, including "Best New Artists" in 1997 and "Best Pop Band" in 2000. The group was named "Best New Act in Minneapolis Area" in 2000 by the Independent Music Atlas. Dazy Head Mazy plays more than 200 shows per year between clubs and colleges around the United States. The group has been enthusiastically received in many states across the Midwest and has shared the stage with national performers such as Semisonic, the Jayhawks, the Why Store, Martin Zellar, the Freddy Jones Band, Tina and the B-Side Movement, the Honeydogs, and the Refreshments.
