Kit and Kaboodle to Perform at UMC October 9
The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Early Childhood Development Center will sponsor a children’s concert featuring performers Kit and Kaboodle on Tuesday, October 9, from 7-8 p.m. in Bede Ballroom. The concert is free and open to the public and is partially sponsored by UMC’s Student Service Fee.
Kit and Kaboodle are a crowd-pleasing duo from the Twin Cities who perform music and comedy for young children and their families. Formed in the spring of 1993 by Andy LaCasse (Kit) and Russ Rogers (Kaboodle), the duo began with the idea that music and comedy intended for young audiences should not be low-minded or saccharine, but should be worthy of entertaining people of any age.
Within a year and a half the two had made their first tape, "Best of Friends", and had played one hundred shows. Their second tape,"Ready for Fun!" was released in 1995, to rave reviews. Kit and Kaboodle now perform more than 200 shows each year, and they are pursuing further avenues to bring their unique entertainment to families everywhere.
LaCasse studied music composition and piano at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, paying his way by singing and playing in local bands. After college, he taught music in preschools and day care centers throughout the Twin Cities, and became involved in music workshops for teachers.
Rogers is a professional comedian, actor, songwriter, and musician. His comedy highlights include opening for Louie Anderson at Northrup Auditorium, appearing on "Comedy Gallery TV", and performing in metro comedy clubs. He has acted, directed, and written plays for children and adults, and has written and performed sketch comedy for the radio.
