Comedian Mike Burton to Perform at UMC August 28Comedian Mike Burton will perform Tuesday, August 28, at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The performance will begin at 8 p.m. in Bede Ballroom on the UMC Campus. Admission is free to UMC students and $2 for all others. The event is open to the public. Burton has worked with some of the best new comics in the business including Bobby Collins, Joey Kola, Chris Rock, and Damon Wayans. He performs regularly in New York City at The Comic Strip, Comedy Cellar, and Caroline's and was recently chosen as an alternate for the 1999 New England Conference. He has entertained audiences across the country with material that ranges from relationships to computer skills. Burton grew up in North Carolina and attended Catawba College where he earned his BFA in Theatre Arts. He then moved to New York City to become a comedian. He has appeared in the music video "Softly" by Noelle Noelle, the independent film "In 21 Days," and on the variety show, "The Fringe," which features upcoming performers. He has also starred in several off-Broadway theater productions. The event is sponsored by UMC’s S.P.A.C.E (Student Programming and Activities for Campus Entertainment) Committee.
