KVRR TV’s Shawna Olson to Speak at UMC Spring Convocation March 6 The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) will hold its Spring Semester Convocation on Wednesday, March 6, at 10 a.m. in Bede Ballroom. Steven Brandt, Crookston Student Association President, will serve as master of ceremonies. All interested students, faculty, staff and local community members are invited to attend. Shawna Olson, co-anchor and producer at KVRR Television’s “FOX News at Nine,“ will serve as the special guest speaker. Olson has won awards for her reporting from the Northwest Broadcast Association and the North Dakota Associated Press. She is originally from Walhalla, North Dakota, and received a degree in communication from the University of North Dakota. The UMC Choir will perform a set of musical selections under the direction of Associate Professor of Music George French. UMC Chancellor Don Sargeant and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Doug Knowlton will recognize members of the Chancellor’s 4.0 Club from Fall Semester 2001. Varsity athletics team captains will recognize their respective teams and provide updates on their accomplishments. The public is invited to attend.
