UMC’s Bachelor of Manufacturing Management Program to Graduate Thirteen in Warroad May 6 Commencement ceremonies for the 2003 class of graduates from the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) bachelor's degree program offered on-site at Marvin Windows and Doors will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at Warroad High School. During the ceremony, degrees will be conferred upon 13 Marvin Windows and Doors employees who have completed the Bachelor of Manufacturing Management (B.M.M.) degree. UMC Chancellor Don Sargeant will confer the degrees, and newly appointed Regent Clyde E. Allen will bring greetings from the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. Susan Marvin, President of Marvin Windows and Doors, will offer congratulatory remarks. The Bachelor of Manufacturing Management degree is a workplace-centered program designed to meet increasing employer demand for baccalaureate education in a manufacturing setting. The program has been co-designed by employers and industry professionals with content flexible enough to recognize the worth of prior learning, yet focused on coursework that provides tangible value both immediately and long term. Key features include application-oriented, integrated curriculum and alternative course delivery options. Five additional students who have completed associate in applied science degrees on-site through Northwest Technical College (NTC) will also take part in the ceremonies. The May 6 ceremonies at Warroad mark the first time that the University of Minnesota, Crookston and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system will hold a joint graduation in an off-campus location. The degree programs were designed so students completing the NTC associate degree can seamlessly go on to complete UMC’s B.M.M. Marvin Windows employees completing UMC’s B.M.M. degree and attending the ceremony include Rachel Bishop, Dan Janzen, Connie Laufman, Timothy Mack, Stuart Mickelson, Belle Nelson, Lorrie Peterson, Eric Salentine, Kim Scharfenkamp, Tim Stoll, Bob Storey, Edward Tayrien, and Chris Ylitalo. This is the second year UMC has held graduation exercises at the Marvin Windows site. Last year five employees completed the degree program.
