Northwest School of Agriculture Reunion June 27, 28 Four alumni will be honored at the annual Northwest School of Agriculture (NWSA) Alumni Reunion, scheduled for Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). Receiving the “Top Aggie Awards” for 2003 will be: Johanna Nabben Green ’23 of Grafton, N.D.; Myrtle Hanson Marti ’38 of St. Paul, Minn.; Rodney Lindstrom ’33 of Lake Park, Minn.; and Les Nielsen ’58 of Plymouth, Minn. In addition, the NWSA classes of 1923, 1928, 1933, 1938, 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, and 1968 will gather for special class meetings. Festivities begin on Friday, June 27, at 7:00 p.m. as alumni members gather for a social at the Northland Inn of Crookston. On Saturday, June 28, reunion registration begins at 9 a.m. in the rotunda of UMC’s Kiehle Building and continues all day. A memorial service for Evelyn (Bierbaum) Peterson, NWSA Class of 1929, will be held at 10:15 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston. Peterson was instrumental in setting up 4-H clubs and working with young people across the region and state in the 1930’s, and served as a staff member at the NWSA from 1953-1958. Saturday events continue at 10:45 a.m. with a dedication of the Heritage Room (124 Kiehle Building) and the annual business meeting at 12:30 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium, followed at 1 p.m. by a “Salute to the 50s” program. Class photos and class meetings will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. The evening buffet dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. in Brown Dining Room and will be followed by a program honoring the Top Aggies and the recipient of the NWSA Distinguished Service Award for 2003. The NWSA Alumni Association represents graduates of the residential high school, which operated from 1905 through 1968 on what is now the campus of the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
