Inauguration of Chancellor Burton and Bergland Laboratory Dedication Set for October 17 at UMC

Ceremonies for the inauguration of Velmer S. Burton, Jr., as the third chancellor for the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) are scheduled for Friday, October 17, at 2:30 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium on the UMC campus.  A reception will follow.  All faculty, staff, students, alumni and the general public are invited to attend.

University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks and a number of members of the U of M Board of Regents are scheduled to attend the ceremonies.

Earlier that day, a luncheon by invitation will be held at Noon in Sahlstrom Conference Center’s Brown Dining Room. The luncheon will be attended by Chancellor Burton, his invited guests, members of the University of Minnesota Board of Regents, other University officials, and invited guests of Regent Emeritus Robert Bergland (right). Following the luncheon, the campus will honor Robert Bergland when the controlled environmental science building is officially dedicated as the Bergland Laboratory at 1:15 p.m. The campus community and the public are also invited to attend this ceremony.
