Hypnotist C.J. Johnson to Perform at UMC October 22Hypnotist C.J. Johnson will perform Wednesday, October 22, at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The performance will begin at 8 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium on the UMC Campus. Admission is free to UMC students and $2 for all others. The event is open to the public. Students, staff, faculty, and community members will have a chance to witness the power of the human mind and the hilarious situations that an altered state of consciousness can create. Volunteers who appear on stage will experience a wide variety of phenomena, ranging from the inability to remember their own names to believing they are members of a “boy band,” the crocodile hunter, drill instructors, game show participants, or TV talk show guests, among other things. “People are often surprised at what they did on stage but are seldom embarrassed by it,” says Johnson. “I try to work a good clean show, and I don’t steer routines in directions that are humiliating—my goal is not to make them look like fools.” Over the summer of 2003 Johnson was a featured act with the Brooks and Dunn Neon Circus and Wild West Show, which also featured some of the most popular country music acts in the business today. He is the author of more than a dozen books and CDs on the subjects of entertainment and hypnotism. He lives in the hill country outside of Austin, Texas, with his wife and three sons. Disability accommodations are available upon request and can be made by calling 218-281-8506.
