UMC Bible Study Group to Host Country Band Laredo September 10 Regional Christian country band Laredo will perform Wednesday, September 10, at 8 p.m., in Kiehle Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The concert is free and open to the public and is sponsored on campus by UMC Bible Study, a student group. Disability accommodations are available upon request. For information, call 218-281-8505.Using popular country music to set the stage for common ground, Laredo introduces the concept of relationships and how they fit into a Christian view of life. The music, woven together with band members’ own personal stories, provides a venue to examine all relationships, including a relationship with God. Laredo began as a temporary summer band in 2000. After quickly gaining popularity, the group was launched as a full-time band in the fall of 2001. The musicians come from a variety of social and musical backgrounds. The musical expertise and the clear communication skills of each member of Laredo give them credibility with their audience and provide a platform from which to share their message of hope.
