UMC Student Lobby Day Set for Thursday, Feb. 12

UMC's Student Forum is organizing support among all students, faculty, and staff for the $4.6 million capital request proposed as part of the larger $249 million U of M System request.

The UMC request includes funding for:

• Renewal of the Knutson Hall pool area into a multipurpose room
• Renewal of Owen Hall to replace a welding lab with a one-stop student service area
• UTOC-stable expansion for additional horse stalls, breeding area, and storage
• A new early childhood development facility and lab

As part of this process, members of UMC's student government are planning a trip to the state capital on Thursday, Feb. 12. All students, faculty, and staff are invited, and should contact Abby Chervestad or Mark Erickson to make arrangements to take part in this trip.

UMC's Student Forum is also encouraging students, faculty, and staff to contact state legislators and senators to voice their support of this funding project. Supporters can send e-mail to their legislators via the Minnesota State Legislature Web Site.
