University of Minnesota, Crookston WordmarkTorch and Shield Banquet Set for October 29, 1997

 

Men and women who have provided leadership and aided in the development of the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) will be honored Wednesday, October 29, 1997, at the annual Torch and Shield Banquet.

There will be a public reception for the new University of Minnesota President Mark Yudof and his wife Judy at 5:00 p.m. with dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by the program. A noon luncheon will be held to dedicate the Northwest Experiment Station Agricultural Research Center auditorium as the Youngquist Auditorium in honor of Bernard E. Youngquist, superintendent 1956 to 1983.

Those receiving the Torch and Shield Award include: Gayle Skinner-West, associate dean, University of Minnesota Extension Service; Robert Kvavik, associate vice president, University of Minnesota; Laurie Swenson, sports editor, Crookston Daily Times; and Martin Sabo, US House of Representatives, Washington, DC.

Recognition will also be given to new members of the following University of Minnesota and UMC gift clubs: Trustees Society; Patrons Society; Presidents Club; Champions Club; Chancellors Club; and Associates Club.

UMC’s All-College Advisory Committee, Program Improvement Audit Committees and other Advisory Committees will also meet on the campus that day and will be recognized at the evening banquet.

The event is co-sponsored by the Northwest Educational Improvement Association. Disability accommodations will be provided upon request. Tickets are $15 per person by reservation only. To make a reservation, call external relations at 218-281-8437 by October 24.
