University of Minnesota, Crookston WordmarkNorthwest Urban Forestry Workshop Set for March 10 at UMC

The annual Northwest Urban Forestry Workshop will be held Tuesday, March 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Youngquist Auditorium, Northwest Experiment Station on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. The Workshop is sponsored by UMC Office of Continuing Education and Natural Resources Department, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and the Headwaters Area Shade Tree Advisory Committee.

This year’s workshop will be presented by staff from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry; Ed Hayes, Mike Carroll, Al Jones, and Emily Wright; and Regional Urban Forestry Leaders Bob Fogel of Moorhead, John Johnson of Thief River Falls, and Mike Fugazzi of Grand Forks, ND.

Schedule for the day includes a Hazard Tree Assessment and Regional Update in the morning, luncheon and Tree City USA Award Presentations, afternoon outdoor field session or an alternate session for city administrators with Shady Tree Advisory Committee representatives.

Cost is $35 which includes breaks, lunch and class materials. New Tree Inspectors (those not previously certified, and seeking certification) will need to pay an additional $50 if they desire a copy of the 3-ringed binder tree inspector notebook. (This is recommended, though not required.)
