Would you like to travel in Europe or the world for 84 cents a day? Gill White, an international speaker and author of the book "Europe on 84 Cents a Day," will give a presentation Tuesday, January 26, at 7:00 p.m. in Bede Ballroom at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The public is invited.

He will talk about 28 creative ways to obtain free rides, 20 creative ways to obtain free accommodations and food. He’ll also discuss how to save on the foreign money exchange and many more tips.

White’s formula for reducing the major expenses is simple: the traveler should possess enthusiasm, an interest in meeting people, and more importantly, be willing to return the hospitality and generosity by performing simple chores, such as, washing dishes or by offering a small gift.

Using the opening theme of "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson, White follows with a highly informative and entertaining lecture. A slide show and selected taped conversation with the natives vividly illustrate what a traveler can encounter when using his methods. His personal experiences and success highlight the lecture.

White obtained his education in Australia, the United States and his bachelor of arts in administration in Canada in 1982. Since then, he has given over 450 lectures in the United States, Canada, Australia, new Zealand and Great Britain.
