Ag-Tourism Project The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) announces the appointment of two student interns who will help farm families and rural communities explore business possibilities related to agriculture tourism. Stephan Robberts and Aaron Reitmeier officially began their jobs June 1. The project will provide technical assistance to anyone in NW Minnesota who is interested in developing an agriculture tourism business venture. The goal is to do an inventory of agriculture tourism for the region as a marketing tool. Technical assistance in developing an internet home page is also available. Agriculture in Minnesota is changing, and rural communities are changing too. The University of Minnesota is responding with a wide range of projects to help rural families and communities during this time of transition. Agriculture tourism is an option for some farm families. To request assistance, call the District Extension Office at UMC, 218-281-8683. There is no charge for the service. The agriculture tourism project is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension Service, University Tourism Center, Central Minnesota Rural Partnership and UMC.
