UMC Names Mike Curfman New Women’s Basketball Coach

Mike Curfman and Don SargeantThe University of Minnesota, Crookston announced today that Mike Curfman has been named the new head women’s basketball coach at UMC. He replaces Brenda Krogstad who has resigned effective June 15.

Curfman will become UMC’s fifth women’s basketball coach; his appointment will begin on August 2.

Curfman comes to UMC from St. Cloud State University where he has been Dr. Lori Ulferts top assistant for the past five seasons. A native of Fosston, MN, Curfman played basketball at UMC for two seasons where he was named an Academic All-American. He then transferred to Concordia College in Moorhead where he played for two years. He graduated with honors from Concordia College with a degree in Business Administration. Previous to his tenure at St.Cloud State he assisted Ulferts at Moorhead State for two seasons where he obtained his Masters Degree in Business Administration.

"We are very fortunate to have a person of Mike’s background and experience in charge of the women’s basketball program as UMC enters the NSIC and NCAA II arena," said UMC Athletic Director Marv Bachmeier.
