| Crookston Connects with
Lucilles Kitchen Citizens from Crookston and
North Minneapolis will have a conversation on Tuesday, February 9, and the whole state
will listen.
Minnesota Public Radio invites citizens to gather at 133
Kiehl Hall at the University of Minnesota, Crookston and Lucilles Kitchen in North
Minneapolis at 8:30 a.m. for a live on the radio conversation about what they have in
common. At a time when the gap between urban and rural seems to be widening, this project
will use communication technology to connect citizens around issues that are important to
the public good.
This conversation began in June when both communities were
part of a citizens forum discussion that also involved sites at Duluth, Rochester,
and St. Paul. Citizens at Crookston citizens discovered some things in common with
citizens at Lucilles Kitchen, and they said so. Sponsors of the program decided to
continue the conversation.
Lucilles Kitchen and Crookston connected again on
October 30 when both groups participated in a meeting of the Minnesota Governor candidates
on Almanac, the popular public television program. Again, there were shared
concerns.
Citizens from NW Minnesota are welcome to join in the
conversation by participating at UMC on February 9, 8:30 a.m., 133 Kiehl. Call Barbara J
Muesing, Director of University Outreach at UMC, 218-281-8680, if you have questions. Or,
listen to the program on any Minnesota Public Radio station from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
