Wilson Named Post-Secondary
Counselor Of Year Laurie Wilson, counselor at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC), was named Post-Secondary Counselor of the Year by the Northwestern Minnesota Counselors Association at their spring meeting. The purpose of the award is to recognize a post-secondary counselor in Northwestern Minnesota for outstanding service or achievement. The person must be currently employed as a full-time counselor in a post-secondary institution and must be a member of the Northwestern Minnesota Counselors Association. Wilson has been responsible for innovations in counseling programs and student with disabilities programs at UMC and throughout Northwest Minnesota. She works with the ambassador program serves on committees and has provided leadership in the further development of existing counseling services at UMC. She has performed outstanding service to the Crookston Community by serving on the School Board and Take Back the Night Program. She is also the editor of the Northwestern Minnesota Counselors Newsletter and serves on the Executive Committee. Wilson will be eligible for Minnesota Post-Secondary Counselor of the Year Award next Spring at the Minnesota School Counselors Association meeting in Brainerd.
