UMC to Host IDEAL2 National VideoconferenceThe Center for Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) will host the IDEAL2 National Videoconference April 13 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. in Hill Hall 15 on the UMC campus. The conference purposes are to encourage broad idea sharing and to encourage the development of a knowledge marketplace in which many institutions of higher education can participate. The target audience for this national conversation includes university presidents, vice presidents, provosts, graduate deans, distance education administrators, chief information officers, deans, faculty and learners. IDEAL is an initiative of the American Distance Education Consortium (ADEC) focused on tackling important administrative issues in distance education and distributed learning. IDEAL2 is the implementation phase of the effort. While IDEAL1 produced guidelines and tools related to the recommendations, IDEAL2 is focused on validating the recommendations and tool and sharing approaches throughout the country. ADEC is dedicated to increasing quality and efficiency. Not every institution needs to invent unique solutions to the common problems arising in response to the emerging National Learning Infrastructure. Attendees will meet the people using technology to change the practice of education. Four case studies will trigger interaction and discussion on best practices. The cases will include: Quality Distance Education Principles and Programs; TADDA – A Three State Union; The Great Plains IDEA – Credit, Collaboration, Money; and Just Doing It – Leaving Turf Behind in Kentucky. For additional information on this national conference, please call Renee Mulcahy at 218-281-8681 or email rmulcahy@mail.crk.umn.edu. |
