Lisa Hunter to Perform at UMC
April 19

Singer-songwriter Lisa Hunter will perform at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Wednesday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Brown Dining Room of the Sahlstrom Conference Center.  The performance is open to the public.

Hunter’s music is a combination of folk and rock, with a “splotch of funk.”  Her sound has been compared to Ani DiFranco , Suzanne Vega, and Shawn Colvin—a seemingly odd combination, but one that details her distinctive blend of musical influences.

A native of Michigan and a graduate of the University of Michigan, Hunter is a relative newcomer to the music scene.  She played her first solo show in 1996.  Since then she has self-produced and released two CDs, opened for Kristen Hirsh, been a finalist in Lilith Fair Talent Search, and picked up ten Detroit Music Award Nominations.  She is currently supporting her latest CD, “Flying.”
