UMC Theater to
Perform the Comedy “Bless Me Father” Feb. 18-21 The University of
Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Music-Theater Department will perform the
comedy “Bless Me Father” February 18, 19, and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and
February 20 at 3:00 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium on the UMC campus.
Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.
Special reduced-price advance tickets are available from the cast
and members of the UMC Choir. The
funds will be used for the upcoming choir trip to Los Angeles. The farce, written by
Craig Alpaugh, takes place in Holy Family Rectory, where Fathers Richard
and Charles preside. The
chaos begins when Father Charles mistakenly learns that Father Richard is
planning to leave the priesthood and get married.
In reality, the lady in question happens to be Father Richard’s
sister, Susan, who wants Father Richard to marry her—that is, to preside
over the marriage ceremony to her fiancé Ira. The cast includes veteran UMC student actors Mike Swartz (Father Richard) and Nathan Smieja (Father Charles). Other cast members include Lisa Seeger (Susan), Teresa Koberstein (Sister Maria), Ben Horgen (Bishop Bungy), Tim Gerla (Tommy), Lacey Schmitz (Mrs. Prout), Rachel Sundbom (Mrs. Murphy), Nathan Kurtz (Officer Stomer), Adam Wagner (Ira), and Tim Larson (Mr. Prout). The production is directed by George French. For more information, contact the UMC Music-Theater Department at 218-281-8266. Disability accommodations can be made by calling 218-281-8587. |
