UMC to Offer Course in Farrier Skills

Farrier skills will be the topic of a course to be offered by the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC).

The one-credit course, “Farrier Skills” (CNED 1725), will run Friday, April 14, 2000, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 15, 2000, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  It will be held in UMC’s University Teaching and Outreach Center (UTOC), on the north side of the campus.

The course focuses on the anatomy and functions of the lower leg and hoof of horses.  Those enrolled will study diseases and abnormalities of the lower leg and hoof.  Techniques of foot care, trimming procedures and practices, and safety considerations will also be demonstrated.  Rae Ann Bartz, a certified farrier, will teach the course.

The fee for the course is $120, and the enrollment deadline is April 7, 2000. This course has an enrollment limit, so early registration is recommended.
