Sweet Adelines to Perform March 5 at UMC The Twin Forks Chapter of Sweet Adelines International will perform on Sunday, March 5, at 3:00 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The performance is open to the public, with admission free for UMC students and $5 per person for all others. The theme of the show is "Rockin' Back the Clock." It is a tribute to the music of the early rock n' roll era. Some of the songs featured will include “My Guy,” “Bandstand Boogie,” “Unchained Melody,” “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” and “All I Have To Do Is Dream.” The show includes 50s-era costuming and choreography. Featured quartets will include Golden Rhapsody, Prairie Sky, and Spicey Girls, all of the Twin Forks Chapter. Special guest quartet Fallcreek of the Valley Chordsmen will also perform. The mix of musical numbers done in four-part harmony, often called “barbershop,” will also include tunes performed by the entire chorus. This performance is billed as a recruitment performance. Those interested in becoming a part of Sweet Adelines International are encouraged to attend and learn more about the organization. There will also be time for potential recruits to explore four-part harmony with members of the chorus. The Twin Forks Chapter of Sweet Adelines International was chartered in 1973. The group performs for various functions throughout the region. For more information about the Twin Forks Chapter, contact Melodi Reese at 701-772-1809. The performance is sponsored by UMC’s Concerts and Lectures Committee. Disability accommodations are available upon request and can be made by calling 218-281-8587. |
