Check-in/Check-out Procedures
All contract holders are assessed a $100.00 Security/Damage deposit. Shortly after moving in the halls all students will asked to complete a Check-in Information form regarding the condition of the room and the furnishings. This record will be used to assess the amount of damages, if any, to be charged against the student's deposit, based on changes in the room condition during occupancy. Appeals of damages are to be submitted in written form to the Office of Residential Life within 30 days.
When moving within the residence halls students must secure approval from the Office of Residential Life, and then make an appointment to be checked out of their old room and into their new room with each respective Resident Advisor. If leaving the residence halls, the student must be checked out by the Maintenance Coordinator who will assess damages and authorize a deposit refund. Failure to follow check-out procedures will result in disciplinary action. Appointments can be made at the Office of Residential Life. Refund checks are mailed from the Twin Cities Campus Business Office and require 8-10 weeks for delivery.
Due to the number of students leaving at the end of the school year, as the halls close, Residence Hall staff will assist in checkout procedures. Final determination of damages, and the amount of refund, if any, or charges, are determined after inspection and review by the Maintenance Coordinator.
Failure to comply with the procedures explained above forfeits the entire amount of the deposit. For further information and/or clarification, contact the Residential Life Office in Centennial Hall.
Keys: Room keys will be issued to residents at the check-in time. There will be a $30 service charge for exchanging core and replacing key if lost. It is against residence policy to loan your key to others. Keep your key with you at all times. Return your key to the Residential Life Office. Room keys will be issued to residents at the check-in time.
