Commuter Students
Welcome!

Commuter Students Logo    Welcome! Check out the links on the left for some useful information compiled for the UMC Commuter Student.

Commuter Student Fact: Although the commuter student population is nationally recognized as a student group that is more likely to withdrawal from classes and less likely to graduate in four years, they are not less committed to their education. Commuter students simply have to balance many other competing commitments, including family, work, and other responsibilities. “Commuter students share a common core of needs and concerns such as issues related to transportation that limit the time they spend on campus, multiple life roles, the importance of integrating their support systems into the collegiate world, and developing a sense of belonging to the campus” (CAS, 1997).
