    The Crookston Pickleball Association has been able to utilize the University of Minnesota Crookston Wellness Center on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons during the past academic year. The Association approached the campus about the possibility of using the facility due to the sport's growing popularity and an increase in club members.

    More than 50 students in grades nine through twelve from across the region participated in the second annual Northern Great Plains Youth Institute on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMN Crookston). The day included a keynote address by Mark Jirik, director of the Northern Crops Institute, presentations and roundtable discussions, and immersion sessions. An awards program concluded the day with the presentation of the Borlaug Certificates.

Highlights included Outstanding Student Achievement Awards from which the Man and Woman of the Year are chosen. Each student nominated by faculty and staff for the award is ranked in six categories: grade point average, honors, leadership, campus activities, community service, and service on campus.
