    Since classes began in late August, UMC students have been enjoying the college’s new energy-efficient Wellness Center, which features a rooftop solar PV system that produces 23,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually--6 percent to 10 percent of the building's electricity consumption. The project is the result of a new rebate program by Otter Tail Power Company that incentivizes solar energy.

Outstanding alumni honored this year were Ron Dvergsten 1979; Natasha Anderson 1995; Kelly Swanson 1994. Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame were Cathy (Behr) Helin ex. 2004, basketball; and the 1992-93 Trojan Hockey Team. The Abbey young alumni award was presented to Charly (Reinert) Stansbery 2006.

Crowned homecoming queen was Bailey Braatz, a senior majoring in business from Buffalo, Minn. and homecoming king was Aaron Bengtson, a senior majoring in agronomy from Battle Lake, Minn.
