Markets for Local Foods Workshop
The University of Minnesota Extension Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships will host an exciting day of information and networking with growers, farmers markets, and community connections in NW Minnesota. The morning session will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by an afternoon session at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 28. In the morning, we will have speakers from the Minnesota Farmers Market Association and Minnesota Grown. A discussion of the Food Safety Modernization Act along with rural grocery collaborations will follow. There will also be a sharing of success stories from around the NW region on One Vegetable One Community and Power of Produce (PoP) Club 101. The afternoon will bring a variety of in depth breakout sessions that will dig deeper into the morning session highlights. Both sessions are located at Bede Ballroom on the University of Minnesota Crookston Campus. There is no charge to attend. Lunch is available in Brown Dining on campus between the morning and afternoon sessions - $5 lunch for workshop attendees.
“We have hosted a gathering for farmers markets for several years. This year’s event still provides promotional ideas for farmers market managers and vendors and it provides information to folks selling through retail and wholesale markets” says Linda Kingery, Executive Director.
