Teambackers Set Record at Olsonawski Scholarship Golf Tournament

A gorgeous day made for some great golf at the University of Minnesota Crookston Teambackers Olsonawski Scholarship Golf Tournament held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Two River Golf Course in Hallock, Minn. It proved to be a record-setting day for the 16th annual golfgolf tournament with 92 golfers participating and raising more than $6,000 in support of scholarships for student athletes. Mark your calendars, next year's tournament will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Two River Golf Course.

The Mark Olsonawski Scholarship is awarded to a U of M Crookston Football player from the northwest Minnesota region or northeast North Dakota region. To date, nearly $14,000 has been awarded from the endowment.

The winning team of Mike Olsonawski, Cameron Mortenson, Jeff Backous, and Josh Hauert finished with a score of 58. Second place went to Rod Hennen, Hayden Hennen, Tyler Hennen, and Robert Carr with a score of 59. The third place team of Jason Tangquist, Brad Heppner, Nate Anderson, and Derek Martin finished with a score of 61.

Golfers are encouraged to participate in the upcoming UMC Teambacker Golf Classic to be held Friday, July 14 at Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston, Minn. To sign up for the Classic, contact Beth Novak at 218-281-8436.

The U of M Crookston is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
