UMC Opening Week begins August 22

Opening week at the University of Minnesota, Crookston will begin on August 22. Faculty and staff are invited to an all-campus welcome breakfast, which includes the announcement from Crookston’s mayor, Don Osborne, on the “Year of UMC” proclamation. Joe Massey, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, Richard Nelson, interim associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Pam Holsinger-Fuchs, interim vice chancellor for student affairs, will discuss initiatives for the new academic year and the bookstore will have host an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

There will be department meetings, work sessions, and orientation for new faculty members. Other special opening week events include an all-campus picnic for faculty and staff, athletic events, with the week capped off by the welcome back for students on Saturday, August 27. A special orientation convocation will be held that day in Kiehle Auditorium. Fall Semester classes begin Tuesday, August 30.
