Crisis Consultation and Resources
If you (or someone you know) is having a mental health crisis and/or is in immediate danger, please dial 911. Dangerous crisis situations include suicidal behaviors or threats, homicidal behavior or threats, irrational dangerous behavior, or excessive consumption of alcohol or drugs.
If you are not sure whether the situation represents immediate danger, err on the side of caution and place the call. If the mental health crisis you are experiencing is not dangerous, but you wish to access health care immediately, please contact one of the following depending on your location:
If you are a UMC student in crisis and are in the Crookston area or surrounding area (or aware of a student in crisis) contact UMC's Counseling Services:

For crises on weekends, holidays, after hours, or during the summer or college breaks, please call the Northwest Mental Health Center's 24 hour Crisis Number at 1-800-282-5005. A person who dials this number after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends is calling RiverView Healthcare (hospital). A trained health care provider at Riverview screens all calls and relays appropriate calls to a mental health professional who then gets in touch with the caller within a few moments.
