TXT4Life is a suicide prevention resource available in many counties in Minnesota. The TXT4Life program uses texting as a way for those in crisis or contemplating suicide to anonymously reach out and ask for free and confidential help. When individuals text the word “LIFE” to 61222, they are connected with a trained counselor who can help them by listening, providing tools and resources, and helping them get to a safe place, both emotionally and physically. Text “Life” to 61222 to be connected to trained, compassionate counselors.
NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness): NAMI Minnesota is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families. NAMI Minnesota offers education, support, and advocacy. NAMI Minnesota has started web-based support groups for people living with mental illness. These groups can be accessed at www.supportgroupscentral.com/nami-mn. On the landing page click JOIN button and fill out the necessary information. Once you have created an online account, you can register for support groups by logging into your account and clicking on the “Meeting Calendar” tab. Find a support group you would like to attend and click on the REGISTER button. Participants will need a device like a computer with a microphone and optional webcam, a tablet, or a smartphone.
