University of Minnesota Crookston freshman, Janie Tormanen, recently received notice that three of her poems have been accepted for publication. Tormanen is a communication major and writing minor from Menahga, Minn. and plays women's basketball for the Golden Eagles.
Amanda Lucas has been a teaching specialist in the department of communication at University of Minnesota Crookston since 2021, though she has been teaching since 2016.

Crookston Rotary Club recently awarded their Fall 2022 scholarships to University of Minnesota Crookston Students of the Month Braden Letourneau, Annjelica Moreno-Englebrecht, Samantha Olek, and John LaCoursiere. The students were recognized and awarded on January 27 at halftime of the basketball game in Lysaker Gymnasium.
